The Duchess of Cambridge has revealed how, when she first joined the royals, she was so worried about what to give the woman with everything (including her own country) for Christmas, she decided to go back to basics.
She said: “I thought, ‘I’ll make her something.’ Which could have gone horribly wrong. But I decided to make my granny’s recipe of chutney.
“I was slightly worried about it, but I noticed the next day that it was on the table.”
Kate’s gesture obviously went down well - but now it’s time for her to get her thinking cap on again as the Queen celebrates her 90th birthday on April 21.
